Although "Haiku" poems concern generally understood subjects,
such as Life & Death, the Seasons, Nature, and Animals...
it is the Poet's unique way of observing
which attempts to raise the "obvious"
from mundane...to profound
with a sympathetic, often melancholic,
yet always realistic view....and point.
The original Japanese format consists of three lines
of five, seven and five syllables.
Surprisingly, this terse format works very well in English.
